Title: Systems 1

Research Question: How can the process of application job monitoring in the GRID environment be improved to provide users with more information about their jobs?

Methodology: The authors propose a new approach to monitoring the execution process of an application job in the GRID environment. They use GRID services to access monitoring information with a security level available in GRID.

Results: The authors present an experimental realization of the application monitoring in the GRID using IMPALA/BOSS/McRunJob, which wrap jobs by some script including MySQL client. This approach works well in local cases but has some restrictions that make it difficult to adapt to the GRID case.

To solve these problems, the authors propose a new scheme for application job monitoring. This scheme ensures secure access to job information by the owner, allows the use of multiple DB servers, maintains transparency for end-users, and utilizes standard GRID services for the realization of the middleware.

Implications: The new scheme of application job monitoring provides a more secure and efficient way for users to monitor their jobs in the GRID environment. It also sets a new standard for GRID monitoring facilities, which can be applied to other systems and improve overall functionality.
